Regulation and Insurance

This firm is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and the Family Mediation Council (FMC).

Emma Ries is a member of Resolution, Family Mediators Association, Family Mediation Council and The Law Society.

Monika Pirani is a member of Resolution, Family, Mediation Council and The Law Society.

SRA Regulation and Insurance for legal work

Being regulated by the SRA means this firm is subject to the SRA Standards and Regulations which can be found on their website.

This means that:

  • everyone who works for the firm must meet the high standards the SRA set
  • this firm must have the right level of insurance to protect you in case something goes wrong
  • you may be able to claim through the SRA Compensation Fund to have your money reimbursed if this firm or a solicitor working for it loses your money
  • you can complain to the SRA if you are concerned about the behaviour of this firm.

FMC Regulation and Insurance for mediation work

All FMC Registered Mediators are trained to a set standard and:

  • follow the FMC’s Code of Practice
  • hold relevant insurance
  • are required to carry out training and activities to ensure their continued professional development
  • receive the appropriate supervision and support
  • required to have a complaints procedure

The Family Mediation Standards Board (FMSB) is independent of the FMC and operates the FMC’s registration and accreditation processes.

In addition to FMC Regulation, mediators are regulated by their individual membership organisations, usually the organisations that trained them. Emma Ries is regulated by FMA and Monika Pirani by Resolution.
